FOREWORD

So far, in the context of universalism, communication skill is one of the competencies necessary to empower cooperation and mutual respect among the citizens of the nation. To fulfill these conditions, the Faculty of Language and Literature Education (FPBS) continues to develop themselves and innovate in order to provide the best service to the community. The development is carried out in aspects of curriculum, facilities, tools, learning methods, and other aspects framed in an international standard quality assurance system. Development with such an orientation is a necessity because FPBS partners come from various international institutions that are active in the fields of education, research, and culture. Therefore, it is not surprising if FPBS currently has 10 study programs.

The ten study programs are concentrated in fostering one group of science, namely the science of language education and literature. This group implies the urgency of a multidisciplinary approach in dealing with increasingly complex and unbearable world problems. If this group of science is empowered and contributes in overcoming improbability, people will surely appreciate and acknowledge its existence. The more real the contribution of a science to human welfare, the more real the presence is felt of that science. On the other hand, the less contribution made, the fading the charisma.

We should be thankful that FPBS has successfully achieved advancement of sciences displayed through various indicators, including an increase in study programs, an increase in the number of collaborations, a large number of successful alumni, an increasing number of people interested in studying at FPBS, an increase in scientific publications, and lecturers’ academic qualifications have met the standards, and even surpass the standards.

The progress achieved by FPBS cannot be separated from the leadership success of the previous deans, the contributions of the professors, and the necessary coaching by university leaders on an ongoing basis. The success achieved today is the result of various past efforts. Hopefully FPBS will progress further to provide the best services worldwide.
