Bandung, 21 January 2026 – The Faculty of Language and Literature Education (FPBS), Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI), held the Election of a Candidate Member of the Academic Senate from the Non-Professor Lecturer Element as an Interim Replacement for the 2024–2029 term of service on Tuesday, 20 January 2026, at the Meeting Room on the 4th Floor of the FPBS UPI Building.
The activity began with an opening by Prof. Wawan Gunawan, M.Ed., Ph.D. as the Dean of FPBS UPI, who conveyed the purpose of the election while emphasizing the importance of a transparent process that complies with prevailing laws and regulations. On this occasion, the Dean also presented the procedures and criteria for academic senate candidates, referring to the Regulation of the Board of Trustees of UPI Number 03/PER/MWA UPI/2015 concerning the Statute of Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia.
Next, the Dean presented the list of candidates for the Academic Senate Member from the Non-Professor Lecturer Element based on selection results at the study program level. The proposed candidate was Dr. Khaerudin Kurniawan, M.Pd., a Senior Lecturer from the Indonesian Language Education Study Program at FPBS.
Out of a total of 147 lecturers in the FPBS environment, 83 lecturers, or approximately 56 percent, participated in this activity, consisting of 34 participants attending offline and 49 participants attending online. Through deliberation and consensus, the meeting determined Dr. Khaerudin Kurniawan, M.Pd. as the Candidate Member of the Academic Senate from the Non-Professor Lecturer Element representing FPBS as an Interim Replacement for the 2024–2029 term.
After the determination, the selected candidate delivered a brief remark regarding the planned work program to be carried out if appointed as an Academic Senate Member. Furthermore, the election results will be proposed by FPBS to the university level for further processing in accordance with applicable provisions.
This activity is also in line with UPI’s commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) through strengthening a high-quality academic ecosystem, and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions) through transparent, participatory, and accountable governance practices in higher education institutions.
The activity concluded with congratulations and hopes from faculty leaders and lecturer representatives that the selected candidate will carry out the mandate professionally and provide positive contributions to strengthening academic governance and the progress of Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia.
