History
1963

Initial Formation

FKIP and the Teacher Education Institute were merged into IKIP. FKSS became one of its faculties de facto.

1964

Official Recognition

FKSS was officially recognized through Ministerial Instruction No. 128 of 1964 with 4 departments and 2 sections.

1965

Department Restructuring

Sections were upgraded to departments through Ministerial Instruction PTIP No. 5 of 1965. The Japanese Language Department was established.

1975–1979

Department Expansion

The French Language Department was established, initially managing diploma-level education, then undergraduate programs.

1980–1983

Transformation into FPBS

Through Government Regulation No. 5/1980 and Presidential Decree No. 48/1982, FKSS was renamed FPBS with 6 departments and 8 academic programs.

1991

Adjustment of Educational Levels

D3, D2, and D1 levels were discontinued, and FPBS focused solely on undergraduate (S1) programs.

1999

Institutional Change and New Programs

IKIP Bandung became UPI. FPBS launched undergraduate (S1) non-education programs in Indonesian and English languages.

2007

Development of Independent Departments

German, Arabic, Japanese, and French languages became independent departments. Arts Education was also developed.

2014

Faculty Expansion

The Faculty of Art and Design Education (FPSD) was formed. FPBS was renamed the Faculty of Language and Literature Education. The Korean Language program was opened.

Vision

The Faculty of Language and Literature Education aims to become an outstanding institution in conducting language and literature education programs with internationally standardized management by 2025.

Mission

    To manage the implementation of language and literature education based on national and international standards in an academic atmosphere that supports quality education, carried out by professional educators and supported by adequate educational facilities.

    To conduct various research and development activities in the field of language and literature education and to disseminate innovative research findings nationally and internationally using multidisciplinary and transdisciplinary approaches.

    To develop knowledge, apply, and utilize research findings in the field of language and literature through community service activities based on national and international standards for the welfare of humanity.

  4. 4

    To build partnerships with various stakeholders at the national, regional, and international levels in order to enhance the quality of education, research, publication, and community service.
