Bandung, December 10, 2025 - The Faculty of Language and Literature Education (FPBS), Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI), once again recorded a proud academic achievement through the awarding of Decrees (SK) for the promotion of academic functional positions to the rank of Professor to two FPBS lecturers. This activity was part of the series of UPI Professorial Inauguration events at the end of 2025.

The two FPBS lecturers who received the Professor Decrees were:

  1. Prof. Dr. Andoyo Sastromiharjo, M.Pd., as Professor in the Field of Productive Indonesian Language Skills Learning at the Faculty of Language and Literature Education;
  2. Prof. Wawan Gunawan, M.Ed., Ph.D., as Professor in the Field of Functional Linguistics at the Faculty of Language and Literature Education.

The awarding of the Professor Decrees represents institutional recognition of the dedication, consistency, and academic contributions of both lecturers in the development of science, education, and the strengthening of the tridharma of higher education. This achievement further reinforces the strategic role of FPBS in supporting UPI’s vision as a pioneering and leading university at both national and global levels.

The Dean of FPBS UPI stated that this achievement is not only a source of personal pride but also institutional pride. The presence of Professors within the FPBS environment is expected to strengthen academic leadership, enhance the quality of learning and research, and encourage scientific collaboration with broad societal impact.

More broadly, the addition of Professors at FPBS UPI aligns with the university’s commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) through the strengthening of excellent human resources, as well as SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through the enhancement of academic networks and scientific collaboration.

With the increasing number of Professors within FPBS, UPI continues to demonstrate its consistency in building an excellent, sustainable academic ecosystem that contributes tangibly to the development of education, language, and culture in Indonesia.
