Bandung, 6 March 2026 - Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI), through the Faculty of Language and Literature Education (FPBS) in collaboration with the FPBS Alumni Association (IKA FPBS), will organize Isola Fun Run 2026, a casual running event scheduled to take place on 11 April 2026 at the UPI Bumi Siliwangi Campus in Bandung. The event is designed as a shared space that brings together the academic community, alumni, and the general public in a healthy and recreational atmosphere.
UPI Rector Prof. Didi Sukyadi, M.A., stated that this fun run is one of the university’s efforts to encourage the public to be more physically active and adopt healthier lifestyles. Modern lifestyle changes that tend to reduce daily movement are considered one of the factors behind the rise of non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease. Through this event, UPI aims to invite the public to re-establish simple physical activities such as running as part of everyday habits.
Beyond promoting a healthy lifestyle, Isola Fun Run also serves as an opportunity to strengthen the relationship between the academic community and UPI alumni, whose number has reached more than one hundred thousand and is spread across various regions. The event is expected to reinforce alumni’s emotional ties with their alma mater and open wider opportunities for collaboration in the university’s development.
The Dean of FPBS UPI, Prof. Wawan Gunawan, M.Ed., Ph.D., explained that the idea for Isola Fun Run emerged from an initiative by FPBS together with the FPBS Alumni Association to present an activity that is not only health-oriented, but also strengthens a sense of togetherness within the broader UPI community. Through this event, alumni are expected to reconnect with the campus while also contributing to various institutional development programs.
The event targets participation of around 1,500 to 2,000 runners, including students, lecturers, alumni, and members of the general public. The route is planned to loop around the UPI campus area, starting from the Isola Building and passing through several roads in North Bandung before finishing back on campus.
In addition to being a joint sports event, Isola Fun Run 2026 is also designed as part of efforts to raise funds for the UPI endowment, which can later be used to support various academic development programs and assist students in need.
Through this event, UPI and FPBS hope to provide a healthy, inclusive, and togetherness-driven space for interaction, while also strengthening the contribution of higher education institutions in encouraging the public to adopt more active and healthier lifestyles.
