The field study was aimed at expanding students’ understanding of linguistic and socio-cultural dynamics of indigenous communities, particularly related to the history of Kampung Adat Cireundeu and the livelihoods of its people. The implementation of the activity focused on interactive discussions between students and local community members. Through this dialogic space, students had the opportunity to directly explore customary values, local wisdom, and the worldview of the Cireundeu community that has been preserved to this day. This approach allowed students to understand the close relationship between language and culture in the context of indigenous community life.

There are interesting aspects of Kampung Cireundeu, one of which is the concept of pancawaluya, which is widely known in West Java, while in Kampung Adat Cireundeu the concept of pancaniti is recognized as the main foundation for maintaining food self-sufficiency. The food self-sufficiency referred to is achieved through the consumption of rasi (sangueun) or cassava rice, which serves as one of the staple foods of the Cireundeu indigenous community. In relation to the Sociolinguistics course, there are language varieties adapted to the situational context in which the language is used. During ritual ceremonies, the language variety used is formal and rich in cultural terminology, while the Sundanese language used in daily life is loma and polite. This reflects the identity of the Kampung Adat Cireundeu community as friendly and approachable toward visitors.
