Bandung, WPs. - The Sundanese Language Education Study Program (PBS), Faculty of Language and Literature Education (FPBS), sent its representative to take part in PEKSIMINAS 2026 at the UPI Amphitheater Building on Thursday (12/02/2026). The event served as a platform for students to develop their interests and talents in the arts, as well as a space for national-level self-actualization.

Ujang Ruslan represented the program in the solo dangdut singing category. “I’m happy to be able to join this competition. Even though the rehearsal time was relatively short, I still tried to deliver my best performance,” Ruslan said after the competition. He added, “Performing in front of many people certainly comes with its own challenges. Nervousness is inevitable, but it is part of the process that I have to go through.”

By performing the song “Mahal,” Ruslan managed to captivate invited guests and the panel of judges with a heartfelt performance. His appearance even drew the attention of Rita Tila, who served as one of the judges in the competition. His vocal quality and stage expression became added value in his performance.

Students’ participation in this event reflects UPI’s commitment to its vision of Leading and Outstanding. Active involvement in the arts also aligns with the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) point 4, which focuses on quality, inclusive, and equitable education. Through PEKSIMINAS 2026, students not only develop academic abilities, but also strengthen character and creativity in the fields of arts and culture.

PEKSIMINAS 2026 was not only a competition, but also a learning space for students to build mental resilience, discipline, and professionalism in their creative work. Support from lecturers and fellow students also became a source of motivation for Ruslan as he prepared his stage performance. (Hilal Adha, Dian Hendrayana)
