BANDUNG - Kolej Ibrahim Yaakub (KIY), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), in collaboration with the English Education Study Program, Faculty of Language and Literature Education, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (FPBS UPI), successfully held the UKM-UPI International Academic Symposium 2026 as part of the KIY Global Connect: Chapter Indonesia mobility program.
Carrying the main theme “Smart and Sustainable Campuses: Integrating Digital Innovation and Youth Leadership for Community Impact”, the activity aimed to strengthen bilateral relations between nations through academic discussion, digital innovation, and youth leadership in creating meaningful impact for society.
The main event took place on Tuesday, 28 July 2026, at 09.00 WIB in the Auditorium on the 4th Floor of Building B, FPBS UPI. The event officially began with warm remarks from the Dean of FPBS UPI, who welcomed the delegation from Malaysia, followed by remarks from a leadership representative of Kolej Ibrahim Yaakub (UKM).
As a form of strengthening formal and sustainable collaboration, the agenda continued with the signing of an Implementation Arrangement (IA) between the English Education Study Program of FPBS UPI and Kolej Ibrahim Yaakub UKM. This signing served as a strategic step in expanding academic, research, and student activity cooperation at the international level.
After the opening ceremony and IA signing, the agenda proceeded to the main session, the International Symposium. This session featured speakers and academics from both universities, including:
- Dr. Seri Mastura Mustaza (Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia)
- Wan Fariz Hakimi Wan Ahmad Nazrul (Student Representative / UKM)
- Dr. Finita Dewi (Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia)
- Achmad Yudi Wahyudin (Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia)
The speakers presented their materials and engaged in interactive discussions with participants on the integration of digital technology in campus environments, student leadership, and the role of academics in developing environmentally friendly and sustainable campuses.
The event was open to all UPI students and attracted strong participant enthusiasm. In addition to gaining international insights, participants also received e-certificates as a form of appreciation for their active participation.
Through the signing of the IA and the successful implementation of this symposium, FPBS UPI and UKM hope that this collaborative relationship will continue and generate new innovations with positive impact for the academic communities in both countries.
This collaborative activity directly supports the achievement of several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 4: Quality Education by improving access to and the quality of higher education through academic exchange and international scholarly discussion; SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities by promoting sustainable campus environments oriented toward social impact; and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals by strengthening global partnerships and cross-country collaboration among higher education institutions.
