Bandung, November 6, 2025 - The English Language Education Study Program, Faculty of Language and Literature Education (FPBS), Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI), held a series of International Professional Development Lectures featuring Dr. Shahid Abrar-ul-Hassan, Associate Professor at the University Canada West, Vancouver, BC (Canada), and Editor of The ESP Journal (Elsevier, SSCI).

The program consisted of two workshop sessions titled:

  1. Writing and Publishing in Journals I: Navigating Mainstream Academic Publishing
  2. Writing and Publishing in Journals II: Preparing Manuscripts for Publication

The workshops took place on November 4–5, 2025, at 09.00 WIB in the FPBS UPI Auditorium, 4th Floor, attended by lecturers and students from the English Language Education Study Program.

During the sessions, Dr. Shahid Abrar-ul-Hassan shared valuable insights and strategies for publishing in reputable international journals, covering topics such as effective academic writing, managing the peer-review process, and publication ethics. Participants also received practical guidance on developing manuscripts that meet global academic standards.

This activity is part of the faculty’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the scientific publication competence of lecturers and students, in line with Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia’s vision and mission to foster a culture of innovative research and academic publication. Lecturers and students are encouraged not only to write articles that meet international standards but also to highlight Indonesia’s local wisdom and context to make meaningful global contributions.

Beyond enhancing research and publication capacity among the academic community, this initiative contributes to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education - specifically in improving the quality of research and dissemination of scientific knowledge.

With strong enthusiasm from participants, FPBS UPI remains committed to continuously organizing international-scale professional development programs to expand academic networks, improve the quality of scientific publications, and strengthen UPI’s position as an excellent, innovative, and globally competitive university.
