Bandung, 13 February 2026 - The English Language Education Study Program, Faculty of Language and Literature Education (FPBS), Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI), welcomed a visit from six students of Konan University, Japan, accompanied by Prof. Roger Palmer. Held at FPBS UPI, the visit reflects UPI’s commitment to expanding its international network and strengthening the program’s strategic role in advancing English language education with global impact.
The delegation was officially received by Prof. Dr. Emi Emilia, M.Ed., Ph.D., Head of the English Language Education Study Program, together with the Dean of FPBS UPI and the program secretary on 11 February 2026. The meeting marked an important moment in fostering academic collaboration between UPI and Konan University.
During the visit, the students participated in classroom observations, visits to partner schools, and a public lecture. This series of activities provided first-hand insight into Indonesia’s education system and university learning environment, while broadening their perspectives on learning dynamics, academic interaction, and educational contexts from a global point of view.
This activity represents an impactful implementation of UPI’s internationalization program for the academic community. UPI students gained cross-cultural interaction experience and strengthened their international communication competencies, in line with UPI’s vision as a leading and outstanding university at regional and global levels. Furthermore, the visit supports SDG 4 (Quality Education) through collaborative, quality-oriented education, as well as SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by reinforcing inter-university partnerships.
As a follow-up, the two institutions have reached an initial agreement to explore a student exchange program. Future strategic recommendations include developing a credit-bearing student exchange scheme, collaborative research in language education, and joint guest-lecture programs to ensure the sustainability and impact of the partnership.
