1957 – Establishment
Established as the Sundanese Language and Literature Division within the Department of Indonesian Language and Literature at FKIP PTPG.
1958 – Under FKIP UNPAD
Became part of FKIP Padjadjaran University.
1963 – Joined IKIP Bandung
Became the Department of Sundanese Language and Literature at FKSS IKIP Bandung following the integration of FKIP and IPG.
1983 – Integration with Indonesian Language
Merged into the Indonesian and Regional Language and Literature Education Program pursuant to Minister of Education and Culture Decree No. 0134/1983.
1999 – Under UPI
Since IKIP Bandung became UPI, the Sundanese Language and Literature Study Program re-established itself as an independent program.
2018 – Official Naming
Officially became the Sundanese Language Education Study Program based on UPI's academic structure.
The Study Program has 16 faculty members and one administrative staff, with expertise in Sundanese language, literature, education, and culture. Students come from all over West Java, and even from outside Java and abroad.
To study and develop excellent education in Sundanese language, literature, and culture based on socio-humanities approaches and local wisdom, as a nationally recognized study program with international acknowledgment.

- To implement excellent and beneficial Tridharma (education, research, community service).
- To establish collaborations in Sundanese cultural education and preservation.
