Bandung — 28 Safar 1448 H / August 11, 2026. Proud news comes from the extended family of the Arabic Language Education Study Program (PBA), FPBS UPI. Ahmad Zaldi Assegaf, M.Pd., Ph.D., an alumnus of PBA, has successfully completed his doctoral studies at Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), Brunei Darussalam.
Ahmad Zaldi pursued his undergraduate studies in Arabic Language Education (PBA) from 2002 to 2007, then continued his postgraduate education from 2007 to 2009. His academic journey continued to the doctoral level in PhD in Education (Islamic Education) at the Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Institute of Education (SHBIE), Universiti Brunei Darussalam.
This achievement is a source of pride for the PBA FPBS UPI academic community. Ahmad Zaldi’s journey shows that the education undertaken since the undergraduate level can become a foundation for continuously developing academic capacity on the international stage.
According to the official SHBIE directory, Ahmad Zaldi is listed as a Doctor of Philosophy candidate (PhD in Education) at SHBIE UBD. His research is titled “Penanaman Nilai-Nilai Thoriqoh Alawiyyah pada Keluarga Alawiyyin di Indonesia Beraqidah Ahlusunnah Wal Jamaah.”
During his studies at UBD, Ahmad Zaldi was also active in academic activities and scholarly publications. His name is listed as an author in a number of scientific works affiliated with the Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Institute of Education, Universiti Brunei Darussalam, including research on tolerance and the understanding of Islamic moderation.

For Ahmad Zaldi, completing his doctoral education is the result of seriousness, perseverance, and commitment throughout his academic journey. He shared a simple yet meaningful message for alumni and students alike: “من جدّ وجد”
“Whoever strives earnestly will attain the result.”
This message serves as motivation for PBA alumni not to stop developing themselves after completing their undergraduate studies. Academic journeys can continue through education, research, publication, and community service.

The Head of the Arabic Language Education Study Program at FPBS UPI, Dr. Asep Sopian, M.Ag., conveyed his appreciation and congratulations on Ahmad Zaldi’s success in completing his doctoral education at Universiti Brunei Darussalam.

Ahmad Zaldi’s accomplishment is expected to inspire other PBA students and alumni to keep learning, improve their competencies, and have the courage to continue their education to higher levels.
