Yogyakarta, September 25, 2026 — The Arabic Language Education Program (PBA) at Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) strengthened its academic and institutional network by entering into Memoranda of Agreement (MoA) and Implementation Arrangements (IA) with the Association of Indonesian Arabic Language Education Study Programs (PPPBA), IAIN Curup, Universitas Negeri Jakarta (UNJ), UIN Mataram, and Universitas Negeri Surabaya (UNESA). The agreements were signed during the PPPBA National Working Meeting and International Conference on Arabic Language held in Yogyakarta on September 23–25, 2026.
This cooperation represents PBA UPI’s effort to expand partnerships with institutions committed to advancing Arabic language education in Indonesia. The agreed MoAs and IAs are expected to provide a foundation for collaborative activities involving institutions, lecturers, and students in education, research, community service, and other academic fields.
The MoAs and IAs were signed as part of the PPPBA National Working Meeting agenda on September 23, 2026. The occasion provided an important opportunity for PBA UPI to build institutional communication and broaden opportunities for collaboration with Arabic Language Education programs throughout Indonesia.
The event took place within the forum of the Association of Indonesian Arabic Language Education Study Programs (PPPBA), which brought together study program leaders, lecturers, researchers, and academics from various universities. The forum served as a platform to strengthen communication and collaboration among Arabic Language Education programs through national partnerships, joint research, exchanges of academic experience, and the development of collaborative programs.
The PBA UPI delegation consisted of Dr. Asep Sopian, S.Pd., M.Ag., Dr. Rinaldi Supriadi, M.Pd., Dr. Mia Nurmala, M.Pd., Nalahuddin Saleh, M.Ag., Hikmah Maulani, M.Pd., and Farhan Fuadi, M.Pd. Their participation also reflected the study program’s active role in building networks and developing partnerships with Arabic language education institutions.
The 2026 PPPBA National Working Meeting and International Conference on Arabic Language carried the theme “Generative Artificial Intelligence and the Transformation of Arabic Language Education: Innovating Curriculum, Teaching Methods, and Assessment in the Era of Society 5.0.” The theme positioned the transformation of Arabic language education, curriculum innovation, teaching methods, and assessment as important responses to the development of generative artificial intelligence and the educational demands of the Society 5.0 era.
For PBA UPI, the establishment of MoAs and IAs with PPPBA, IAIN Curup, UNJ, UIN Mataram, and UNESA is expected to create broader and more sustainable opportunities for collaboration. The partnerships form part of PBA UPI’s efforts to strengthen its academic ecosystem, expand interinstitutional networks, and enhance joint contributions to the development of Arabic language education in Indonesia.
The Arabic Language Education Program at UPI congratulates all parties on the successful organization of the 2026 PPPBA National Working Meeting and International Conference on Arabic Language. May the MoAs and IAs serve as a foundation for productive and sustainable academic collaborations that benefit the development of Arabic language education in Indonesia while supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 on quality education and SDG 17 on partnerships for the goals.
