The Faculty of Language and Literature Education (FPBS), Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI), successfully held The 10th International Conference on Language, Literature, Culture and Education (ICOLLITE 10) online on Thursday, 23 July 2026. Carrying the theme Critical Literacies, Discourse, and Meaning Making in a Post Digital World: Repositioning Language, Literature, Culture and Education, the conference served as an international academic forum to discuss the role of language, literature, culture, and education in responding to the dynamics of post-digital society.
The conference brought together 298 presenters and 12 participants from eight countries: Indonesia, Uzbekistan, the United States, Algeria, Finland, Hong Kong, South Korea, and Malaysia. This diversity reflects the growing international academic collaboration developed by FPBS UPI in advancing knowledge.
One of ICOLLITE 10’s key strengths was the academic contribution of FPBS UPI lecturers who served as main speakers. Prof. Dr. Sumiyadi, M.Hum. appeared as a keynote speaker and discussed the importance of critical literacy in developing learners’ ability to interpret various social and cultural phenomena amid the development of digital technology. This perspective was enriched by Dr. Erika Matruglio from the University of Wollongong, Australia, and Alexander Sautkin, Ph.D. from Murmansk Arctic University, Russia, who presented international perspectives on literacy practices, discourse, and education in the post-digital era.
In addition, five FPBS UPI lecturers, namely Dr. Kholid A. Harras, M.Pd., Dr. R. Dian Hendrayana, M.Pd., Dr. Linna Meilia Rasiban, M.Pd., Dr. Rinaldi Supriadi, M.Pd., and Dr. Suharno, M.Pd., served as featured speakers. They addressed a range of strategic issues, from language learning innovation, literary and cultural studies, literacy strengthening, to the use of technology in learning processes. These perspectives enriched the discussions while reaffirming FPBS UPI’s scholarly contribution in responding to global education challenges.
Through parallel presentation sessions, presenters also shared research findings across various fields, including language and literacy studies, media, literature, culture, education, learning autonomy, and technology-based learning innovation. The discussions showed that critical literacy is no longer understood merely as the ability to read and write, but also as the ability to analyze information, construct meaning, and make reflective decisions amid the rapid flow of digital information.
The implementation of ICOLLITE 10 reaffirmed FPBS UPI’s commitment to developing a research culture, expanding international academic networks, and encouraging innovation in language, literature, culture, and education. The activity also contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) through the strengthening of research and innovation-based learning ecosystems, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through cross-country academic collaboration that supports sustainable knowledge development.
