Doctoral Program in Indonesian Language Education

History & Accreditation


1968 – Postgraduate Pioneer

The Indonesian Language Education Program began under LPPD IKIP Bandung as a pioneer of postgraduate education in Indonesia.

1981/1982 – First Doctoral Students

The Doctoral Program (S3) started admitting students in the 1981/1982 academic year.

1993 – Official Permit for Master's and Doctoral

The program officially obtained permission as a Master’s and Doctoral Program through Decree No. 588/Dikti/Kep/1993 dated October 21, 1993.

2020 – Doctoral Accreditation

Accredited A based on BAN-PT Decree No. 6720/SK/BAN-PT/Akred/D/X/2020.

2022 – Master's Accreditation

"Excellent" accreditation rating based on BAN-PT Decree No. 6586/SK/BAN-PT/Ak.Ppj/M/IX/2022.

The main focus of this study program includes the latest developments in Indonesian language and literature education, the development of learning models for language, literature, and BIPA, as well as the study of language, literature, and oral traditions.

Vision

To become a leading and pioneering center in Indonesian language and literature education that is nationally and internationally recognized for the development of transdisciplinary models of language and literature education, applied linguistics, pedagogical communication, didactic literature, and revitalization of oral traditions.

Mission

  1. To conduct education in the field of Indonesian language and literature.
  2. To conduct research and develop transdisciplinary models in Indonesian language and literature education, applied linguistics, pedagogical communication, didactic literature, and revitalization of oral traditions.
  3. To disseminate scientific knowledge and technology in the discipline and issues of language and literature education through community service.
  4. To carry out education and research in BIPA (Indonesian for Speakers of Other Languages).

Goals

  1. To produce (future) educators (teachers/lecturers), researchers, and instructors in Indonesian language and literature education who master the discipline comprehensively and apply it in education/training and research beneficial to society.
  2. To develop and foster doctoral students in Indonesian language and literature education to become scholars, educators, education professionals, and responsible independent experts of high competence and integrity.
  3. To develop and disseminate innovative, creative, and high-quality scientific research in the field of Indonesian language and literature education that benefits related stakeholders.
  4. To develop and offer expert knowledge and services in solving issues related to language and literature education that are innovative, creative, and of high quality.
  5. To disseminate the results and findings of BIPA-related research and works.

Targets

  1. To produce experts in Indonesian language and literature education who are faithful, competent, and open-minded. Graduates should be able to share scientific knowledge and technology in this field and exhibit integrity, ethical awareness, politeness, honesty, openness, and adaptability.
  2. To produce professional educators who are capable of applying philosophical views in Indonesian language and literature education and conducting innovative, creative, and high-quality scientific research.
  3. To produce competent consultants in Indonesian language and literature education who can design and implement policies and solutions to various problems in the field.
