BANDUNG, WPs. - Students of the Sundanese Language Education Study Program (PBS), Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI), class of 2023 successfully organized a cultural performance titled the “Aksatadharma Production” Film Festival on Thursday, 4 June 2026. Creatively packaged, the event was held at Auditorium B of FPBS UPI as a form of a project-based final assessment. The cinematic showcase was attended directly by Ade Sutisna, M.Pd., the lecturer in charge of the indie movie course.
“Here, we can witness student works in the form of indie movies. In this room, the works are showcased. Ieu lain panungtungan, tapi mitembeyan. This is not the end, but a beginning,” said Ade Sutisna, M.Pd. in his warm opening remarks.
Through this statement, he emphasized that the festival marked a very valuable first step for students in producing creative works. The meaningful words of guidance also became a remarkable source of encouragement for the Aksatadharma group in completing one important stage of their academic journey.
The festival itself ran very smoothly and dynamically as it presented the students’ creative work. The Aksatadharma group successfully released four quality film titles within a relatively short preparation period. Regarding the process behind the scenes, student representative M. Aditya Ilyasa explained, “To fulfill the final assessment requirements, preparing these films took about three months. This festival has produced four films, including Jangji Kamari, Sora, Rusiah, and Kembang Silihan.”

Interestingly, in order to achieve greater realism in the storytelling, the characters in the released films did not rely solely on PBS students, but also involved talents from external parties. This collaborative step successfully drew the attention of the appreciators who filled the venue. The audience who came to offer their appreciation was not limited to the Sundanese Language Education Study Program alone, but also included students from other study programs and people from outside the campus.
The implementation of this practicum-based film festival is clearly in line with Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia’s vision of being Leading and Outstanding (Pelopor dan Unggul). More than simply fulfilling academic grading requirements, this real-world learning implementation reflects the academic world’s concrete contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 on Quality Education. The festival has had a significant impact on the development of human resource quality through the sharpening of technical skills and teamwork.
The success of the event also drew admiration and deep emotion from the audience members who attended. “The films were exciting, and in terms of the story, everything really flowed well, from the plot to the filming locations, and the soundtrack matched the setting in the films. I felt touched by the films, and so did the others - some even cried because of them. Keep the spirit up for the class of 2023, and congratulations on completing the indie movie course smoothly,” said Dhaffina and Vera, students from the class of 2025. Their testimony became a fitting and sweet closing statement while also proving the full dedication of the entire organizing committee.
