Bandung, 5 June 2026 - The Dean of the Faculty of Language and Literature Education (FPBS), Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI), Prof. Dr. Wawan Gunawan, M.Ed., Ph.D., represented the Rector of UPI in attending and participating in the Opening Ceremony of Festival Oullim Korea Bandung 2026, held at 23 Paskal Shopping Center, Bandung, on Friday (5/6). Carrying the theme “Rhythm & Recipes: K-Pop Meets K-Halal & Street Food,” the festival was a collaboration between the Korean Cultural Center Indonesia (KCCI) and the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation at Jakarta, aimed at introducing Korean culture to the Indonesian public through a combination of art, culture, and cuisine.

UPI’s presence at the event reflected the university’s commitment to strengthening academic and cultural relations between Indonesia and South Korea. During the opening ceremony, Prof. Wawan was present alongside a number of prominent figures, including the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Indonesia, the Director of KCCI, the Director of aT Jakarta, regional government representatives, and representatives from various educational institutions in Bandung.

Festival Oullim Korea Bandung 2026 featured a wide range of cultural activities, from artistic performances and a K-Pop Dance Cover competition to halal Korean culinary experiences and various interactive activities that gave the public the opportunity to become more closely acquainted with Korean culture. Beyond serving as a space for cultural exchange, the festival also helped strengthen the bonds of friendship between Indonesia and South Korea.

For FPBS UPI, participation in this event is in line with the ongoing internationalization efforts being developed, particularly through the Korean Language Education Study Program, which has actively established various academic and cultural collaborations with partners from South Korea. UPI’s presence in international cultural forums such as Festival Oullim is expected to broaden cooperation networks and open more collaborative opportunities for students and lecturers.

UPI’s participation in Festival Oullim Korea Bandung 2026 also supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially SDG 4 (Quality Education) through the strengthening of intercultural learning, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through the development of sustainable international collaboration. Through this activity, UPI continues to strengthen its role as a higher education institution that actively builds bridges of dialogue and cooperation among nations through education and culture.
